The Documents Collection includes letters of correspondence, deeds, legal agreements, financial agreements, charters, narrative histories, newspaper clippings, and a variety of other genres that are used to document events, people, and places. Most of the documents in this small collection pertain to Ashevilles Built Environment (ABE), but also included are surveys, warrants, and deeds from the Speculation Lands Collection (1774 - 1923). A large scrapbook of newspaper clippings from the turn of the century is also being added. The I.A. Harris Scrapbook from the Mildred Alexander Baird White Collection is a unique view into local politics, state, national and world history. Editing of this large collection is underway as we move the collections to a hosted environment. Please bear with us as our migration of data continues in this area. Many of the items are compound objects (letters with many pages, for example). Some objects will be joined at the completion of our migration process, but be aware that many items may seem incomplete until they are joined.
